iPhone SE 3 could be years away, but an iPhone SE Plus might land first

We had hoped to see the iPhone SE 3 soon after the release of the iPhone SE (2020), but the current leak shows that would not be the case.

The iPhone SE 3 has been delayed until 2024, according to leaker Ross Young, so it may not arrive for years.
When it does arrive, though, it will reportedly have a larger 5.7-6.1-inch LCD screen.
This is an increase from the iPhone SE’s 4.7-inch display (2020).

Young doesn’t mention much else about the phone, but if the dimensions are correct, we expect it to have a more modern design, with reduced bezels and no home button, similar to the iPhone 13 rather than the iPhone 8 on which the current SE is based.
Otherwise, it may be a significant amount of money.

However, those looking for a more affordable iPhone won’t have to wait that long, as Young claims that an iPhone SE Plus will be released in 2022.
This phone is reported to have the same 4.7-inch LCD screen as the iPhone SE (2020) and iPhone 8, but with 5G support.

More than just the connectivity options are likely to change — at the very least, we’d anticipate a somewhat newer chipset to keep the iPhone SE Plus current, although Young doesn’t remark on that.

All of this, however, should be taken with a grain of salt.
While Young has a great track record, we just learned that the next iPhone SE would be released in early 2022, but with a design based on the iPhone XR — implying a 6.1-inch screen.
That contradicts Young’s claims on the iPhone SE Plus.
For the time being, it’s difficult to say which – if either – leak is correct.

The iPhone SE Plus isn’t the first time we’ve heard of one.

Although the majority of iPhone SE rumors have centered on the iPhone SE 3, we’ve been hearing about an iPhone SE Plus since before the iPhone SE (2020) was even released.
