No matter how high Huawei (until the US issue), Samsung (always on top in the last decade) or Xiaomi have climbed even lately, it’s a known fact that in Q4, Apple becomes the leader in the smartphone market. Simply the Cupertino firm sells very well at Christmas and winter holidays, and now Samsung thinks it needs its cojones. How? By launching the Galaxy S23 early.
Why is this information emerging now? They somehow complement the recent leaks of renders for the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23+, followed by the Galaxy S23 Ultra. South Korean publication ET News writes that the Galaxy S23 could debut “earlier than usual”. With the Galaxy S21 arriving on January 14 and the S22 in February, we’re looking at either an early 2023 or even a December 2022 launch.
Circumstances would be: the Snapdragon 8 Gen2 processor debuts in mid-November 2022 and Samsung doesn’t want to miss that train. I’m still wondering who is producing it and if it’s TSMC or Samsung. If it’s Sammy it’s easy to understand the motivation to skip Exynos next year and the desire not to lose the Qualcomm contract. Samsung would make more money from producing the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 than from selling some of its phones.
On the other hand you have to take into account component issues, inflation, energy costs, which keep changing the schedule of tech companies. The aforementioned publication also has sources within component suppliers, who have received orders earlier than usual for the Galaxy S23. I remind you that on the Galaxy S23 Ultra we expect it with a 200 MP camera with ISOCELL HP3 sensor.
